FAMILY PARTNERSHIPS

As the saying goes; “Parents are their children’s first teachers.”


Head Start mandates that whenever possible parents must be involved in every aspect of the program.  This policy of “shared governance” is made possible in part by having parents elected to various committees:

  -Personnel Committee
  -Grievance Committee
  -Finance Committee (Treasurer)
  -By-Laws Committee

 

These Committees make recommendations to the “Policy Committee”. The Chairperson of each Committee above is a Policy Committee member in addition to the following officers:

  -Chairperson
  -Vice Chairperson
  -Secretary
  -Community Representatives (including a former parent)
  -Area Representative (from both communities)

 

Parents are asked to volunteer at their child’s center. College interns and Summer Youth Workers also Volunteer. Bishop Sexton site has Foster Grandparent volunteers.

Parent / Teacher conferences are held during regular school hours.
